Historic Old Stone Meeting House Retrofitted with Latest Technology for Clean Heating & Cooling

Many of our residents have visited the historic Old Stone Meeting House either for a Village meeting or a concert.

Now we want to let our residents know about work that was done in the last few years to retrofit the building with a highly efficient heating and cooling system.

The Old Stone Meeting House, which was built in 1813, was retrofitted with a new high efficiency air source heat pump to provide clean heat and air conditioning and lower our carbon footprint, while also reducing energy costs.

Clean heating: In winter, an air source heat pump is a low carbon alternative method to gas. Air source heat pumps extracts ambient heat from outside, heating the refrigerant inside the heat pump. The air is then boosted to a higher temperature using a compressor and then distributed into the interior space.

Clean cooling: In summer, the process is reversed. Heat is captured from inside and expelled outside.

The heat pump will provide more comfortable temperatures indoors, cost less to operate, reduce greenhouse emissions, and protect the environment.

Many Upper Nyack residents are switching over to air source heat pumps for more efficient heating and cooling in their homes.
