Taxable Status Date - January 1st
Property is valued according to its’ ownership and condition as of this date. All exemption applications must be filed with the Assessor by this date.
Valuation Date - July 1st (18 months prior)
All properties are valued according to the real estate market as of this date each year.
Tentative Assessment Roll - February 1st
A listing of all assessments, subject to grievance, is completed and filed by the Assessor. This begins the formal grievance period.
Grievance Day - no earlier than the third Tuesday of February and, typically, the Thursday next following (check with the Village for the exact date each year).
The date when the Village Board meets as the Board of Assessment Review to hear complaints on tentative assessments. This concludes the formal grievance period. All grievance applications (RP-425) must be filed by this date.
Final Assessment Roll - April 1st
A listing of all assessments, including assessment changes ordered by the Board of Assessment Review, is completed and filed.
