Still Here: Women of the Ramapough Lenape Nation. Opening reception June 18, 4 pm, River Hook Preserve

As part of Upper Nyack's 150th Anniversary Celebration, the Village wishes to acknowledge that Upper Nyack sits within the traditional homeland of the Ramapopugh Lenape Nation.

"Still Here: Women of the Ramapough Lenape Nation” is a site-specific environmental installation of the women's epic portraits nestled amongst the landscape of River Hook's natural sanctuary.

ArtsWestchester awarded local photographer Lisa Levart an Arts Alive NYS Grant for the creation of this outdoor art installation. Additional support for this exhibition was provided by Friends of River Hook and the Village of Upper Nyack.
 
The goal is to prompt visitors to reflect upon and honor the Lenape people who have cared for and stewarded this land long before the Dutch and English settled on the Hudson shores, and remember that their ancestors still live amongst us. Learn more about the exhibition here. 

Please join us on Saturday, June 18 at 4 pm for the installation of a plaque honoring the Indigenous people of this land. Please use the River Hook entrance at 611 N. Midland Avenue. Parking for the event is available at Marydell.
