Reminders about Upcoming Snow Storm

Dear Residents,

With the impending snowstorm this weekend (first of the year!) we wanted to remind you to please remove your cars from public streets to allow our Department of Public Works to plow. Although the Mayor has yet to officially declare a snow emergency, the forecasted conditions are likely to trigger one.

Snow Removal and Snow Emergencies

During heavy snowfall, please move all cars off the street to facilitate snow removal. No vehicle shall be parked in the public right of way or on a public street during a posted snow emergency declared by the Mayor of Village of Upper Nyack except in the designated parking places set aside for homes without driveways on the South side of School Street and the West side of Front Street north of Highmount Avenue. The Superintendent of Public Works or the Police Department is hereby authorized to remove and store any vehicle parked or left standing on any public street or highway within the Village during any snowstorm, flood, fire, or other public emergency.

You must remove snow from your sidewalk within 24 hours after the snow ceases.

Snow may not be shoveled or plowed into a public street.

If there is ice on the sidewalk that cannot be removed, you must spread sand or other material on the sidewalk for safety.

Help keep our sidewalks safe!
