Comprehensive Plan for Adoption

In June of 2017, the Village of Upper Nyack began the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Village last updated its Comprehensive Plan in 1999.  Over the following 2 1/2 years, the Comprehensive Plan Committee held many public input sessions on the topics of interest to the residents of the Village.

The resulting Comprehensive Plan, guided by residents' input, is a vision statement for the next decade. It acknowledges and past and offers direction for the future. Most importantly, by law, changes to land use laws must be guided by the Comprehensive Plan.

On February 6, 2020, the Village Board of Trustees accepted the initial draft of the Comprehensive Plan. The document was then sent to the Rockland County Planning Department, the Town of Clarkstown, and the Village of Nyack for their comments.  A public hearing was held on March 26, and comments from residents were collected. Comments were acted on, revisions were made and on April 20, 2021, the Comprehensive Plan was adopted by unanimous resolution of the Village Board.  The final document is available here.
